EIP, as part of the CO-SECUR project, has successfully launched the first event with Romanian stakeholders, a debate series dedicated to rethinking urban safety through civic participation and social innovation.

The first workshop brought together stakeholders to explore how safety in public spaces can be understood beyond its physical dimension - as a shared perception built through trust, inclusive governance, and collective responsibility. Discussions focused on safety challenges in crowded urban environments, public transport systems, and large-scale public events, highlighting the need for people-centred and socially responsive approaches to urban security. During the session, EIP also presented key lessons learned from the project, alongside the CO-SECUR booklet of case studies, which provided concrete examples and practical insights to ground the discussion and inspire debate.

This debate series, running from January to March 2026, provides a structured space for dialogue, co-creation, and knowledge exchange among key actors. Participants are invited to actively contribute to the development and validation of concepts, tools, and policy recommendations that will feed into the project’s final results.

The first workshop marked an important milestone in setting the tone for the series, confirming strong interest in collaborative and participatory approaches to urban safety. Upcoming sessions will continue this exchange, expanding the discussion and supporting the co-creation of solutions with tangible social impact.
